What We Believe

Vision and Values – the Church to which we aspire

  • We have an open door, welcoming those who choose to come
  • We provide sound Biblical teaching
  • Open Door is where we all grow in faith in Jesus Christ
  • It is a place of safety and fellowship
  • We reach out to the spiritually lost and disciple them
  • We connect with our congregation and the broader community - assisting with the needs around us
  • Our heart is to unite with other Christian churches in the Deepings
  • We are a church that is led by the Spirit of God, believes the Bible is the Word of God and we live to honour Him

Our Mission: Helping people find God, know God and serve God.

About the Bible: We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that the Spirit of God inspired people to write the very words of Scripture. The Bible is without error.

About God: There is one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (The Trinity). We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity - the Son of God - who became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Saviour of the lost world.

About Humanity: We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts and in need of a saviour.

About Salvation: We believe that the blood that Jesus Christ shed on the cross, provides the only basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, salvation is given freely by God to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.

About the Christian Life: We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obeying the Word of God and yielding constantly to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.

About the Church: We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are believers - those who have placed their faith in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to the lost world.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (5 Spalding Road) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you will be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits after the service. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There is a disabled toilet downstairs next to the lift.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10:30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of praise and worship, led by our band. We typically have 5 or 6 songs lasting approximately 20 minutes. We may have open prayer time, scripture read and time for sharing of testimonies. We also share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then finish with a final worship song. There is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

What about my kids?

We have a great programme available for kids during the sermon:

  • Creche 0 months to 3 years and feeding mums are welcome to use this room. It is setup to broadcast the sermon so you are still included in the service.
  • Kingdom Kids 4+ The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually include bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play.

Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome, songs and notices. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. At the end of the notices a leader will take the children to the various activities. First time visitors will need to go with your children to their groups and register them as part of our child safety policy.

Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.
